2 Years OLD! A poem for Lucy

2 Years OLD!
That afternoon nap I think I'll be skipping,
My books? The pages lately I've been ripping.
Independence I'm constantly fighting for,
And if I don't get it, I'll throw a fit on the floor.
Purses and totes and bags I carry everywhere,
Stuffed with dolls, toys, maybe mom's underwear.
2 Years OLD!
I can eat with a fork, but prefer to use my hands,
And it seems I only want to eat when out with mom running errands.
I drink milk and juice, occasionally get dad's soda pop,
And devour it to the last drop.
I'm ready to try all kinds of foods to see how they taste,
But usually I'm too busy to eat, and push it away in typical toddler haste.
2 Years OLD!
The potty seems neat to me,
And sometimes I even use it to pee.
The house is always a disaster area, to mom and dad's dismay,
But that's just how I like to play!
My wardrobe, I've discovered has a personality,
Socks on my hands, shoes on the wrong feet, it's all the style for me.
2 Years OLD!
I'm ready to play at the park with the older kids,
But still figuring out locks, car doors, candy wrappers and cup lids.
Everything I see is MINE! MINE!
Sharing makes me want to whine.
Watch me run, when I take off I'm pretty fast,
Mom and dad wonder how long all this will last.
2 years OLD!
I'm non-stop energy, from early morning until well into the night,
I am interested in this and that, everything in sight.
When bedtime finally comes, I fight endlessly,
All the while my eyelids falling heavily.
Sleeping with the sheets kicked away,
I look like an angel, dreaming of a new day's play.

"My books? The pages lately I've been ripping." pretty humorous. Is this your daughter?

I love her and it's so true and typical for a two yr. old. Love ya Steph and Lee and Sto and my Goose!
great poem. Thanks for share your lovely daughter.
I too wrote a poem from my heart to my children. The greatest thing about it is imagining one day...after I am gone and have left them behind, they can read it back to themselves over and over, alone or together....tears running down their faces no matter what their age, remembering their daddy. As will your daughter do the same of you. It is a priceless gift you have given to her, she just doesn't know it yet :)
I love it really reminds me of my lil angel whos also 2
